Kenevil Bio
Immediately following the completion of Evil Grace's debut "The Sweet Toxins,"
I decided to work on a new project. Working mostly with my brother Kev (synthesizer/guitar
player), we started recording songs he had written for his band, and songs
I had written which would eventually lead up to the first Kenevil solo album
"Needles & K-Pins." As much as I had loved the Evil Grace sound, I wanted
this project to sound like it was on a different planet than Evil Grace.
Using the synthesizer for lead riffs, and a drum machine, with the guitars
acting more as a backdrop, the overall sound of "Needles & K-Pins" was very
robotic.
The sexually-themed sophomore effort "Sloppy Sevenths" was finished in the
summer of 2006. While the album isn't as story-driven as the debut, it lyrically isn't a package of makeshift throwaways either. The artificial drum sound remains, but the robotic industrial sound doesn't frequent as often, replaced now by a more garage demo feel.
